As we continue to dream of SEC football, we’ll look at each team and tell you who their best player is.  Texas A&M football is up next, and their best player is an absolute freak in Myles Garrett.

Each SEC football team has at least a few studs.  Whether it be their middle linebacker, corner, wide receiver or quarterback, each fan base has those few guys they can point to and say “he’s that dude.”  The question becomes, though, who is the best?  We now try to answer that for Texas A&M football.

Texas A&M Football hasn’t been known for their defense under Kevin Sumlin.  Myles Garrett and John Chavis, though, are doing their best to change that.  The Aggie’s saw their defense improve in 2015.  Chavis and Co are expecting even more in 2016, thanks in large part to Myles Garrett.

More from Texas A&M Aggies

Of all the dominant defenders in the SEC, only one was mentioned in Greg McEllroy’s Heisman Talks on SEC Now.  Even McElroy through out the obligatory “this is an offensive award” disclaimer, which shows how dominant Garrett is.

Myles Garrett led the conference sacks last season and will do so again in 2016.  The Texas A&M football star has accumulated 22.5 sacks in only two seasons and is poised for a monstrous 2016.  If Garrett wants to truly contend for a Heisman award, though, he will need to shine on the biggest stages.  He has made a habit of collecting sacks against inferior competition, which is exactly what he should do.  In order for him to bring a Heisman to Texas A&M football, though, he’ll need a game similar to Ndamukong Suh’s single-handed domination of Texas a few years ago.  Suh did not win the award, but he is the closest comparison to Garrett to come close.

If Texas A&M football is going to surprise the college football world, Garrett will be leading the way.  Nothing comes easy in the SEC West, though, and the Aggies will need max production.  That production will need to come from all over the roster.  Regardless of how the season turns out, though, there is no doubting who their best player is.
