Yesterday, in our post on the 9th best in-conference SEC game of the season, we talked about an underrated rivalry. Today we will talk about one that is anything but. I’m talking, of course, about the Iron Bowl. Let’s get to it.

More from SEC Football

Number 8: Auburn at Alabama

When: Saturday, November 26th

Where: Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, AL

How to Watch: TBA

Why It’s on the List: If you have to ask you’ll never understand.

The annual clash between the Tide and Tigers is the biggest sporting event in the state of Alabama. When I was young Alabama lost six straight times to Auburn, and every day for those six years I heard about it from my Auburn friends. When 2008 arrived and the Tide crushed the Tigers 36-0 it was pure euphoria.

Since then the rivalry has been extremely impactful. From the 2009 season on, the winner of the Iron Bowl has gone on to win a championship of some kind. Alabama has won four conference titles and four national titles. Auburn has won two conference titles and one national title. This game is important is what I’m saying. How will it shake out this year? Let’s find out.
