SEC Football: Week Three TV Viewing Guide
Unfortunately, there are some of us who are forced to work on Saturdays. Thus, we are denied the sweet pleasure of watching a full day of magical SEC Football. For those of you who are lucky enough to be off on Saturday, congratulations. You have a slate of great games to pick from.
Unfortunately, you probably have only one pair of eyeballs. (EDITOR’S NOTE: If you have more or less than one pair you probably should see a doctor). This means you can only watch one game at a time. Here at Southbound and Down, we’ve taken the liberty of deciding what the best games are. And now we will tell you which games to watch, when, and how, so that you might have the best Saturday possible. Enjoy.
Game 1: Ohio at Tennessee, 11am CT, SEC Network
This is the only SEC game that kicks off at 11 this week. It ought to be a snooze-fest. Although you never know. I say watch this one until 11:30. Nothing else is on and it will give you time to see whether or not Tennessee decided to show up. Then switch to…
Game 2: Vanderbilt at Georgia Tech, 11:30am CT, ACC Network Extra
This should be a fun game. It is a showdown of two academic powerhouses on the gridiron. I would be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to christen the game, “The Nerd Bowl.” Who will win? Tech most likely. But who knows? Maybe Ralph Webb can put the Commodores on his back. Tune in and pull for SEC Football’s favorite underdog. Then, following the game’s ending, turn your dials to…

Game 3: Alabama at Ole Miss, 2:30pm CT, CBS
This one should be a slugfest. You have two talented defenses squaring off against offenses who may or may not be able to take advantage of their weaknesses. Chad Kelly is the best quarterback in the SEC. Can he lead his team to a victory? Or can true freshman phenom Jalen Hurts walk in to Oxford and steal the show? I don’t know. But I can’t wait to find out. Then, catch the end of…
Game 4: East Carolina at South Carolina, 3pm CT, SEC Network
Also at this time: New Mexico State at Kentucky
The three o’clock games are kind of duds this week. Nevertheless, the battle of the Carolinas seems like the more intriguing matchup. Can Will Muschamp get the Gamecocks back on track? Maybe. It’s worth finding out. The same can’t be said for Kentucky, who are just so bad they’re unwatchable. When that’s over, turn to…
Game 5: Texas A&M at Auburn, 6pm CT, ESPN
Also at this time: Mississippi State at LSU, ESPN2
This one was tough to pick. I just think that the Auburn game will be closer, and thus more entertaining. LSU will probably run right over Mississippi State. Nevertheless, keep the remote handy so you can switch back and forth when commercials hit.
Auburn vs. A&M is a very intriguing matchup. You have two very good defenses trying to contain two dynamic offenses. Whichever team wins will become the dark horse pick for the SEC West. I think both teams have a shot at winning. When this one’s over flip to…
Game 6: Georgia at Missouri, 6:30pm CT, SEC Network
Also at this time: North Texas at Florida, ESPNU and Texas State at Arkansas, SEC Network
This is another intriguing divisional matchup. You should be able to catch the end of it if you’re quick. I think by the time you get there the game will have been decided for some time. Nick Chubb is going to run right through Missouri’s defense. But if he doesn’t the game could become interesting in a hurry.
And that’s it. Your long day of SEC Football will finally be over. But don’t despair. More high-octane SEC Football action is only a week away.
