SEC Football is finally back in our lives once again. Our Week 3 Power Rankings looks like garbage after this week’s contests. Now we will take another stab at it.

We’ll do the power rankings for all the SEC football teams like we did last time.  We’ll give a few reasons why they’re there, though we’ll do it in three sentences or less. The number to the right of the team’s name is their overall record, followed by their conference record, and then finally by their ranking in last week’s Southbound and Down SEC Football Power Rankings. Let’s dive in.

14. Kentucky 1-2 (0-1) LW:14

The Wildcats finally won a game. Unfortunately, the defense is still a steaming pile of garbage. On the other hand, they may have found a quarterback.

13. Vanderbilt 1-2 (0-1) LW: 13

Poor Vanderbilt got spanked by Georgia Tech this week. The formerly stout defense is looking a little leaky, and the offense remains anemic. That’s not exactly a winning combination.

12. South Carolina 2-1 (1-1) LW: 11

The Gamecocks got all they wanted from East Carolina, but managed to escape with a win. Brandon McIlwain appears to be the guy at quarterback. The defense is stout.

11. Missouri 1-2 (0-1) LW: 12

Missouri came so close to beating the Georgia Bulldogs this week, but couldn’t quite pull it off. If Drew Lock can cut out the interceptions this team could surprise some people in the East. This is a young, but talented, team.

10. Mississippi State 1-2 (1-1) LW: 10

The Bulldogs almost came back to beat LSU but fell just short. The quarterback competition is still wide open. The defense performed admirably in the second half.

9. Auburn 1-2 (0-1) LW: 9

Auburn’s offense looked awful against Texas A&M. The supposedly stout defense gave up some plays as well. Gus Malzahn has a lot of work to do.

8. Tennessee 3-0 (0-0) LW: 4

Another week, another uninspiring performance from Tennessee. In addition, they lost star cornerback Cam Sutton for the season. The Volunteers will have their work cut out for them against Florida on Saturday.

7. Georgia 3-0 (1-0) LW: 8

I don’t know where to put Georgia at this point. They keep squeaking by teams that they should beat handily. I’m afraid their magic might run out against Chad Kelly and company this weekend.

6. LSU 2-1 (1-0) LW: 7

LSU still has a lot to prove after barely escaping against the Mississippi State Bulldogs at home. Their offense should face a tough test this week against Auburn’s tough defensive line. We might get to see more from Danny Etling this week than we have in the previous two.

5. Ole Miss 1-2 (0-1) LW: 5

Ole Miss is talented, but they seem to be lacking depth, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. We will see how they hold up against Nick Chubb and the Georgia offense. Chad Kelly remains the best quarterback in the SEC.

4. Arkansas 3-0 (0-0) LW: 6

The Hogs are on a roll right now. They face their toughest test of the season this week against West rival Texas A&M. It should be a fantastic game.

3. Florida 3-0 (1-0) LW: 3

Florida looks like they are easily the best team in the SEC East right now. Their defense is absolutely phenomenal. Unfortunately for the Gators, quarterback Luke Del Rio is out, at least this week, with a knee sprain.

2. Texas A&M 3-0 (1-0) LW: 2

A&M knocked off Auburn this week to show that they are a contender in the SEC West. The  Aggies face another potential contender in the division this week. If the Aggies knock off Arkansas they will have only Alabama and LSU standing in their way.

1. Alabama 3-0 (1-0) LW: 1

The Tide finally got the Ole Miss monkey off their backs. Now the Tide gets two easy weeks to develop and heal up before heading to Fayetville for a date with the Hogs. That kicks off a tough three game stretch for Alabama.
