3. Are the Hogs for Real?

Nope. The Hogs got exposed in a major way by Texas A&M. The Aggies dominated the game on both sides of the ball. The Razorback front seven was particularly disappointing. Trevor Knight had all day to pass or run, and Trayveon Williams had all kinds of room to run.

Also, the formerly stout Arkansas running game proved to be anemic. Rawleigh Williams had nowhere to go, apart from his 55 yarder. Austin Allen played pretty well, but ultimately, he came up well short.

I think it is safe to say then, that the Hogs are not for real. They have one decent win over TCU, and then they have wins over cupcakes and a big loss to A&M. The Hogs are probably still the third or fourth best team in the SEC West. But, as of now, they don’t look like they are capable of challenging Alabama for the title.

Texas A&M, by contrast, proved that they are absolutely the real deal. Trevor Knight is a legitimate SEC quarterback. Trayveon Williams is an emerging star. Plus, the Aggies have the deepest receiving corps in the entire country.

But that’s not what has caused Texas A&M to ascend to second in the West. That can be attributed to the stellar play of their defense. Myles Garrett leads a nasty unit who can defend both against the run and the pass. The Aggies will be a tough out for any team.
