Another fantastic week of SEC Football is behind us. Below you will find our impressions from this week’s games. There were several intriguing matchups. Be sure to share your own impressions of them in the comments below. Off we go!

Alabama

  • Jalen Hurts still has some work to do. He missed a few throws that Alabama will need him to make if the Tide want to have a shot at a national title.
  • Joshua Jacobs is going to be a very good SEC running back.
  • Calvin Ridley remains the man.
  • It was good to see Tim Williams finally go off like he’s capable of.

Arkansas

  • Austin Allen remains as efficient as ever.
  • The Hogs may have found a compliment for Rawleigh Williams in the form of David Whaley.

The Hog defense showed some vulnerability against the run.

    Auburn

    Florida

    • The Gator defense is tough. However, they did give a little on the ground. It will be interesting to see if that continues.
    • Austin Appleby played alright, but his fumble late in the game could have proved disastrous.
    • All in all, the Gators played as poorly as they possibly could and still won.

    Georgia

    • Georgia actually played well. But then they lost in the most Georgia way possible. Ugh.
    • Sony Michel and Brien Herrien both filled in well for Nick Chubb.
    • Jacob Eason is going to be special. He did throw one interception, but apart from that performed very well.

    Kentucky

  • The Wildcats do not have a real quarterback right now. Stephen Johnson‘s arm isn’t going to frighten anyone.
  • Benjamin Snell is going to be an able successor to Boom Williams.

The Wildcat defense is marshmallow soft.

    More from SEC Football

    LSU

    • LSU is deep at running back. Derrius Guice and Darrel Williams both went for over 100 yards in the game against Missouri.
    • Danny Etling wasn’t a star. But he did enough to keep the defense honest. That’s really all that LSU needs from him at this point.
    • The defense, led by Kendell Beckwith, played lights out.

    Mississippi State

    • The Bulldogs were off this week. Hopefully they are prepared for Auburn.

    Missouri

    • Drew Lock played like hot garbage.
    • The running game, on the other hand, played pretty well. However, Missouri never got a chance to really establish it because LSU was up big.

    Ole Miss

    • Eugene Brazley and Akeem Judd gave the Rebels a much-needed boost in the running game.
    • Chad Kelly did Chad Kelly type things. He did throw a bad interception, however.
    • The Ole Miss defense got torched through the air, but they did manage to grab three vital interceptions.

    South Carolina

    • Brandon McIlwain had an awful day throwing the ball. He may have just lost his starting job to Perry Orth.
    • A.J. Turner finally found some room to run and had a big day.
    • The Gamecock defense performed exceptionally, holding the high-flying Aggy attack to just 24 points on the day.

    Tennessee

    • Another slow start almost cost Tennessee. But the Volunteers live to fight another day.
    • Joshua Dobbs had a solid game apart from one interception.
    • Jalen Hurd is a human battering ram. Unfortunately for him, he had a very poorly timed fumble.

    Texas A&M

    • The Aggies got the ball moving on the ground this week. Trayveon Williams and Trevor Knight both had big games running the football.
    • Speaking of Knight, he had a somewhat poor showing through the air. Consistency issues plagued him during his time at Oklahoma. Could they be resurfacing?
    • The Aggy defense did work.

    Vanderbilt

    • The Vanderbilt defense played their hearts out.
    • Ralph Webb remains a beast in the backfield.
    • If Kyle Shurmur had performed at even an average level, Vanderbilt could have pulled off the upset.
