The SEC Football season is already almost half way done. As conference play continues we are starting to see things clear up in regards to our power rankings. Today we will give you our Week Six Rankings.

We’ll do the power rankings for all the SEC football teams like we did last time.  We’ll give a few reasons why they’re there, though we’ll do it in three sentences or less. The number to the right of the team’s name is their overall record, followed by their conference record, and then finally by their ranking in last week’s Southbound and Down SEC Football Power Rankings. Let’s dive in.

14. Vanderbilt 2-3 (0-2) LW: 14

Poor Vanderbilt gave the Florida Gators all they wanted this week but couldn’t pull off the upset. The defense and running game are capable. The passing game is atrocious.

13. South Carolina 2-3 (1-2) LW: 13

South Carolina gave Texas A&M a tough game, which surprised me. The defense is surprisingly capable. The offense remains a work in progress.

12. Kentucky 2-3 (1-2) LW: 12

Kentucky had no chance against Alabama. They play Vanderbilt this weekend. That should help clear up the question of who belongs on the bottom of the poll.

11. Mississippi State 2-2 (1-1) LW: 11

Mississippi State is not a good football team this season. They had a bye week this past week. We will see how well they perform against Auburn on Saturday.

10. Missouri 2-3 (0-2) LW: 10

Missouri got whipped by LSU this week. The Tigers just don’t look like a very good team right now.

9. Florida 4-1 (2-1) LW: 6

Florida looked awful this week. The defense remains tough, but the offense is an absolute wreck right now. Hopefully Luke Del Rio gets healthy in a hurry.

8. Georgia 3-2 (1-2) LW: 9

Georgia came so close to a massive upset that would have rocketed them up the poll. Kirby Smart‘s team is a resilient bunch. Unfortunately, the Dawgs are short on talent in the trenches.

7. Auburn 3-2 (1-1) LW: 7

Auburn beat LSU, so perhaps they should be ahead of them. But I think LSU is the better team now. Still, Auburn looked good this week against an overmatched opponent.

6. LSU 3-2 (2-1) LW: 8

LSU opened up their offense a bit and it paid off big time. The defense also looked dominant. This is a dangerous team right now.

5. Arkansas 4-1 (0-1) LW: 5

Arkansas is a tough team to rank. They lost to the only really good team they’ve played by a considerable margin. We will see how the Hogs perform against Alabama this weekend.

4. Ole Miss 3-2 (1-1) LW: 4

Ole Miss beat Memphis. That doesn’t sound particularly impressive, but the Rebels failed to beat Memphis a year ago. The Rebels have a much needed bye week this week.

3. Tennessee 5-0 (2-0) LW: 3

Tennessee needed another miracle to sneak past the Georgia Bulldogs. One has to wonder if they will find another one against Texas A&M this weekend. We will finally get a chance to see what the Volunteers are made of.

2. Texas A&M 5-0 (3-0) LW: 2

Texas A&M finally looked mortal against South Carolina. This week they will need to play much better, as they face off against the Tennessee Volunteers. If A&M wins they will cement themselves as the second best team in the SEC.

1. Alabama 5-0 (2-0) LW: 1

Alabama beat Kentucky with no problem. They will face a much tougher test this week against Arkansas. For now they are the obvious pick for Number One.
