Another fantastic week of SEC Football is behind us. Below you will find our impressions from this week’s games. There were several intriguing matchups. Be sure to share your own impressions of them in the comments below. Off we go!

Alabama

  • Jalen Hurts was magnificent. He passed and ran the ball extremely well. He will need to maintain that level of play over the next two weeks.
  • Alabama has depth at running back. Damien Harris, Joshua Jacobs, and Bo Scarbrough all played well.
  • The Tide’s pass rush is amazing, but the secondary has some work to do.

Arkansas

  • Austin Allen got rattled a bit by the constant Alabama pressure, but he still made some very nice throws.
  • The Hog running game couldn’t get any traction against Alabama’s stout defensive front.

The Arkansas defense needs some major work, particularly up front. The Hogs are marshmallow soft against the run.

    Auburn

    • Auburn looked completely dominant in the first half, but faded a bit in the second.
    • Kamryn Pettway is a load. He will be tough for defenders to tackle in space.
    • Sean White looks to be coming into his own.
    • The Tiger defense remains consistently great.

    Florida

    • Did not play due to Hurricane Matthew

    Georgia

    • Nick Chubb and Sony Michel form a dynamic duo that is hard to beat. It is too bad that they’ve so rarely been healthy at the same time.
    • Jacob Eason played like hot garbage. In his defense, his receivers and offensive line don’t do him any favors.

    Kentucky

    • The passing game is awful. Stephen Johnson couldn’t hit the side of a barn.
    • The running game is good. Benjamin Snell is going to be a star.
    • The defense did enough, although they still let Ralph Webb go for 100 yards.

    LSU

    • Did not play due to Hurricane Matthew

    Mississippi State

    • The Bulldogs are a bad team this season. They look to have locked up last place in the SEC West already.
    • The Bulldogs looked bad on offense, defense, and special teams.

    Missouri

    • The  Tigers had a bye week to prepare for the Florida Gators.

    Ole Miss

The Rebels had a bye week to prepare for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

    South Carolina

    • Deebo Samuel was sorely missed the last few games. He is easily the most athletic and talented of the South Carolina receivers.
    • The Gamecocks have found themselves a talented tight end in Hayden Hurst.
    • The pass defense is solid, they made Jacob Eason look horrendous.

    Tennessee

    • The Volunteers turned the ball over seven times and still almost found a way to pull out a miracle win.
    • They’ll need to take care of the ball better against Alabama. Because unlike A&M, the Tide will make you pay for your mistakes.

    Texas A&M

    • They got the win, but they didn’t play particularly well for most of the game. Tennessee gift-wrapped the win for them and they almost refused to take it.

    Vanderbilt

  • Ralph Webb had another good game.
  • Kyle Shurmur actually played pretty well too.
  • Unfortunately it wasn’t enough. The Commodore defense let a one-dimensional Kentucky offense run right over them.
