Song Title: The Orange and Blue

This is the point where some of the fight songs move from bad to at least listenable, if not somewhat enjoyable. Florida’s is right on the cusp of possibly going either direction.

Credit to the unknown composer of this song (which dates back to a reported 1917), there are some interesting musical things going on in what would otherwise be considered a cookie-cutter march.

Some obvious updates to the voicings and chords turn what was an okay tune to begin with into a decent sounding composition. The other item which places this song above a few similar ones are the lyrics.

School colors, naming the mascot, calling the school “she”…all staples for an easy to sing and remember fight song.
