The Florida Gators have had a successful week on the recruiting trail, gaining the commitments of two four-star prospects.

Florida’s recruiting class received a much needed jolt thanks to the additions of these two blue-chip prospects. The Gators’ 2018 class, which is currently ranked No. 40 in the nation and 8th in the SEC, now features nine commitments.

The good news started on Tuesday when the Gators landed a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Curtis Dunlap. Dunlap, a 6-foot-4, 368-pound interior lineman, plays his ball at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

The four-star lineman is the no. 6 offensive guard in the country and no. 202 overall player according to 247sports composite rankings. He earned an invitation to Nike’s The Opening Finals. Dunlap’s strong showing at The Opening Finals garnered much attention and earned him a spot on the camp’s list of top five offensive lineman.

But it didn’t stop there.

Florida’s big week on the recruiting trail continued on Thursday when four-star tight end Kyle Pitts gave the Gators their second commitment in three days.

Pitts, the nation’s no. 11 ranked tight end and no. 252 overall recruit in the 2018 class chose the Gators over Georgia and Virginia Tech.

The Westminster, Pa.-native possesses ideal size at 6-foot-5 and a rare display of athleticism that has prompted many scouts to label Pitts as one of the nation’s top playmaking tight ends.

With Florida’s current tight end, Deandre Goolsby, in his final year of eligibility in 2017, Pitts will have an opportunity to compete for playing time early on in his career.

The Florida Gators are on the brink of receiving some more good news in the coming days as Florida is set to host a bevy of high profile prospects for its annual Friday Night Lights recruiting event. Some of the prospects in attendance will include: 5 star QB Matt Corrall, 4 star RB Dameon Pierce, 4 star OT William Barnes, 4 star LB Channing Tindal, 4 star WR Ja’Marr Chase, and 4 star S Amari Burney.
