On Saturday, Georgia got their third four-star commit of the week, giving them some much-needed momentum on the recruiting trail.

After this week, the Georgia recruiting class went from being ranked outside of the top 50 according the 247sports composite team recruiting rankings, all the way up to no. 24.

The momentum started on Tuesday, when four-star wide receiver Elijah Moore committed to the Bulldogs over Ole Miss and Miami. According to 247sports’ composite rankings, the Fort Lauderdale-native is the no. 38 wide receiver and the no. 180 prospect overall. He’s listed at 5’11, 181 pounds, and has the makings of a dynamic slot receiver who can make plays after the catch.

Moore’s commitment made him the second highest rated commit in the Georgia recruiting class.

On Thursday, it got even bigger, literally. Four-star defensive end Azeez Ojulari committed to the Bulldogs over Florida and Clemson among others. Ojulari is listed at 6’4, 224 pounds and has the look of an elite pass rusher. He’ll likely be 240 pounds before he ever steps foot Between the Hedges.

There are varying opinions about how good Ojulari is as a prospect. 247sports ranks him as the no. 25 prospect overall, whereas the composite ranking has him as the no. 138 prospect in the country and the no. 15 player in the state of Georgia.

Ojulari was now the second highest rated commit in the Georgia recruiting class. Are you catching a trend here?

On Saturday, the Bulldogs got more good news when four-star wide receiver Kearis Jackson committed to Georgia. Jackson’s commitment is important in more ways than one.

Not only does he provide the Bulldogs with another playmaker on the outside. He is the no. 127 prospect in the country and the no. 14 player from the state of Georgia. But he also has a great relationship with the nation’s top uncommitted quarterback.

More from Southbound and Down

Justin Fields from Harrison High School in Marietta, Ga. is the no. 1 dual-threat quarterback prospect in the country and the no. 3 prospect overall. Fields and Jackson played on the same team at Cam Newton’s 7-on-7 tournament and built a great relationship with one another.

Fields, the one-time Penn State commit, is considered to be down to Georgia, Florida State, and Auburn, though most see it as a Georgia/Florida State battle. With Jackson on board, the chances of Georgia landing Fields have likely also improved.

While package-deals seem to fall through more times than not, these two maintain that they will play together at the next level. And they’ve also hinted at adding even more big-time prospects to the 2018 Georgia recruiting class.

Next: Another year, another bowl game for the Dawgs

This week could be the start of the Bulldogs building some momentum on the recruiting trail.
