Ole Miss Rebels (2-2)

More from Southbound and Down

I don’t know where to begin with Ole Miss. The Rebels just got pummeled by Alabama. This team is being coached by a defensive line coach who looks as clueless as I did when I found out LSU lost to Troy. The one bright spot for this team, however, is its all-world quarterback. Shea Patterson leads the conference in a number of passing categories and Ole Miss fields the most electrifying receiving corps in the conference headlined by a future first round pick in AJ Brown.

The offense is great…at times. The defense is another story. The Rebels are ineligible to participate in a bowl game due to the school’s self-imposed bowl ban, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to matter because this team seems destined to remain at the bottom of the SEC West standings. Perhaps, a mascot change is just the kind of attention-seeking ploy this fanbase needs as a dark cloud continues to loom large over this football program.
