Playoff Berth
The winner of the SEC Championship game will most likely make it in the top 4 of the College Football Playoff committee’s final rankings.
No matter who wins, this will be the first time either Auburn or Georgia will earn a spot in the playoff.

Since the playoff system was started in 2014, Alabama has been the only team from the SEC to earn a playoff berth. The Crimson Tide has played in the semifinal of the playoff for three straight seasons. Alabama has also played in the national championship game for the last two seasons.
Since the College Football Playoff system began, Georgia has not played in a New Year’s Six bowl. While Auburn has played in a New Year’s Six bowl game, they have never been in a semifinal game for the College Football Playoff.
