Georgia football: the drop Tech lunacy

It’s been tried before.

Tech refused to play Georgia in football from 1917 to 1924. It didn’t work then, and it won’t work now. The political uproar caused the governor of the state to intercede and restart the series. The uproar a hundred years later would be 100 fold.

The greatest mistake made by Georgia Tech is seceding from the Southeastern Conference. At the time, Tech was one of the greatest football powers in the country. It’s now a historical footnote.

There’s not much Georgia can learn from Tech, but the Bulldogs can learn that a decision made for the moment can destroy a kingdom.
