Sony Michel vs Todd Gurley: Georgia Football battle in Super Bowl 53
TODD GURLEY
Todd Gurley is in his fourth season with the LA Rams after he went as the No. 10 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Since he got to the NFL, Gurley has done nothing but show out on the football field. He is a three-time Pro Bowler and a two-time All-Pro player.
Gurley won the 2015 AP Offense Rookie of the Year after he played in 13 games, carried the ball 229 times for 1,106 yards, averaged 4.8 yards a carry and scored ten touchdowns.

Then he won the 2017 AP Offensive Player of the Year. Gurley toted the rock 279 times in 15 games for 1,305 yards, averaged 4.7 yards a carry, and scored 13 touchdowns.
The success doesn’t stop there either, this season, Gurley has 276 carries for 1,376 yards and 19 rushing touchdowns. He averages 4.98 yards a carry and has seven 100-yard rushing games.
Gurley is in the hunt for Offensive Player of the Year and if he has a good game in the Super Bowl, could clinch his third offensive player of the year in four seasons.
Fourth Year the Charm?
Since Gurley got into the league, the underlying question of when the Rams would make it to the Super Bowl seemed to be a question. Well after four years, the team finally did it.
The running back continues to put up impressive numbers and be such a force for the offense. His offensive line produces the holes, and Gurley does the rest.
Gurley runs with a purpose. Despite having a rather off postseason, he has one more game to solidify the season and himself as one of the best running backs in the league.
Throughout the season, he worked through adversities and injuries, and a lot of people didn’t know whether he would play in the postseason games. However, Gurley fought through and did enough to help his team get to Atlanta.
Now I have to give credit to CJ Anderson who has shown out this season. He came in and helped when Gurley couldn’t and has a lot of momentum coming into this game. However, this article is about Gurley and Michel, Anderson will have to wait.
Gurley never got an SEC Championship ring at Georgia or a Rose Bowl ring. Nor did he get a chance to play in a national championship game. He did make it in the NFL and went in the first round and has national awards on his resume.
There is one more thing Gurley has to check off, and that’s a Super Bowl ring.
Sunday is his chance to check that off his list, but it’ll be a tough task as the Patriots defense knows how to play on this stage while Gurley and his team may have to settle in and get out the nerves.
If Gurley gets going, this game will likely be a shootout between the offenses.
