LSU Basketball (19-4, 9-1) continues to improve each week. Despite dropping a game to Arkansas, the Tigers figure out a way to win in league play. If Tennessee and Kentucky aren’t careful, LSU could slip up and upset both of them.

The Tigers continue to find a way to win each week. LSU is currently on a two-game winning streak after falling to Arkansas 89-90. Despite having four losses on the season, the LSU Tigers are the second best team in the SEC.

There is something about this LSU team. The Tigers have a swag that comes out on the court. Sometimes that swag comes out right away, and other times it takes till the second half to get it going.

LSU has good shooters and is one of the best rebounding teams in the SEC. The Tigers average 38.4 boards a game. LSU ranks as the No. 2 team in the SEC in offensive rebounds with 13.2 a game.

Second chance points are what makes this team so much fun to watch. The Tigers are gritty, and if they miss their shot, then they’re following it.

More from Southbound and Down

LSU is also good at forcing turnovers. The Tigers average 9.8 steals a game and force 16.4 turnovers a game. Teams have to play close attention because LSU will catch lazy offenses.

The Tigers aren’t just a defensive team either. They have four guys who average ten or more points. Leading the way is sophomore guard Tremont Waters.

He averages 15.7 points and 6.1 assists a game. Waters not only leads the Tigers in scores, but he passes the ball as well.  He also has four double-double games on the season.

LSU has more than Waters, but he is a big piece to the puzzle. Despite only being a sophomore, he is a leader and helps get this team motivated.

The Tigers are one of the most complete teams in the SEC, the only thing standing between them and Tennessee is their ability to start strong. If LSU can start out strong and continue it during the game instead of exploding in the second half, most of these wins would be by double-digit points.

This LSU team is unique and will get to challenge one of the top SEC schools this week. The Tigers head to Lexington to take on Kentucky, Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. ET.

If LSU wants to solidify itself as one of the best in the league, it must first take out ‘Big Blue’ and defeat Kentucky at home, something that isn’t an easy feat to do. However, if any team can do it, it will be this LSU squad.
