LSU Basketball Nabs SEC Freshman and Player of the Week Honors
Two LSU basketball (18-4,9-1) players received the SEC Player of the Week and SEC Freshman of the Week honors this week after their performances in last weeks two games.
Tremont Waters and Naz Reid each received an SEC honor this week. Waters earned his third career SEC Player of Week. Reid won his first SEC Freshman of the week as well.
Waters is a sophomore from New Haven, Connecticut. Last week he averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 assists, five steals and 3.5 rebounds in both wins against Mississippi State and Auburn.
The Tigers had to rally back in both games and without Waters that might not have happened. LSU had to come back from 10 in the overtime win over the Bulldogs and 16 in the first half of the Auburn game.

Waters was pivotal in the Mississippi State game as he scored 26 points and made 11-of-18 from the floor. He also had five assists and five steals against the Bulldogs.
Against Auburn, the sophomore, put up 19 points, ten assists, and five steals.
This game gave Waters his fourth double-double on the season and his fifth double-figure assist game of the season.
Waters is a team player, and these past two games showed how unselfish he is even when he scores over 20 points.
He is a key to the Tigers success and is one of the main leaders despite being an underclassman.
Reid is a freshman from Asbury Park, New Jersey. Last week he averaged 21 points and ten rebounds in the two games.
Against the Bulldogs, he put up 29 points and nine rebounds. Then against Auburn 13 points and 11 rebounds which gave him his second double-double in SEC play.
The freshman scored seven of LSU’s nine points in the overtime period against Mississippi State. Reid came up big for the Tigers and helped rally to get another conference win.
These two guys continue to show out for LSU and need to stay hot if the Tigers want to keep this hot streak.
There is something special about this LSU team. Waters and Reid are hitting their stride at what seems to be the right time.
LSU has a tall task ahead of them as they take on Kentucky Tuesday evening on ESPN at 7 p.m.
