Auburn Football lands commit with size 18 shoe

Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama is at the 7A level which is the highest level of high school classification within the state of Alabama. It may be a name you have heard of before as they have produced some standout division one football talent in years prior, and 2024 will be no different.

While the Auburns Tigers secured the first of two verbal commitment of On3’s Top 100 out of Thompson High School for the class of 2025 in Anquon Fegans, they just secured the second as well this past week. Edge rusher Jared Smith has also pledged his commitment to the Auburn Tigers, which makes him the 11th in-state commit to the Tigers for 2025.

What are Jared Smith’s best attributes?

In addition to his six foot six inch and 235 pound frame, Smith also wears a size 18 shoe. For comparison, former LSU Tigers and Los Angeles Lakers basketball star, Shaquille O’Neal wears a size 22.

Smith ranks as the fourth best edge rusher nationally and a four-star prospect according to On3. He is currently the highest rated player in Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class which includes 13 other four-star commitments in addition to Smith.

Why did Jared Smith commit to Auburn?

For a program needing a boost in defensive line play, Smith is a welcomed addition if he indeed ends up on Auburn’s camps. And according to his X (formerly known as Twitter) account, there is very little chance of that not happening as for him, it has always been Auburn.
