Tigers are the theme here as the Missouri Tigers and LSU Tigers have had amazing starts to the month of July on the high school football recruiting trail for their 2025 classes. With other classes bringing in one or two commits, Missouri and LSU have gone above and beyond and are on the hottest of hot streaks of any team in the SEC through the first part of July.
What success have the Missouri Tigers had in high school recruiting for July?
Head coach Eli Drinkwitz has gotten four four-star commitments for the Missouri Tigers so far this month. This includes to offensive lineman in Lamont Rogers and Keiton Jones, as well as a pair of elite wide receivers in Donovan Olugbode and Jayvan Boggs.
Missouri's offensive line commitments: The bigger recruit of the two offensive lineman is Lamont Rogers who has 29 offers from power four programs. The Sooners were one team that was after Rogers hard on the trail under legendary offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh who has produced a long line of NFL talent during his time in Norman. For Drinkwitz to pull Rogers away is quite impressive.
Rogers also had offers from in state SEC schools the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies. Drinkwitz was able to out recruit these as well.
Missouri's wide receiver room: While Luther Burden III and Theo Wease Jr. are atop the wide receiver room for Missouri for now, Drinkwitz seems to be building a pipeline that will allow the Tigers to sustain success at the position. With the commitments of Olugbode and Boggs, this will do wonders for the Tigers on the outside if the pair indeed arrives in Columbia.
What players have committed to the LSU Tigers in the month of July?
LSU has not been quiet either down in Baton Rouge, and they have defensive line coach Bo Davis to thank for that. Davis was brought over and hired into the same position from the Texas Longhorns this past January and had three defensive linemen commit in the last week.
Zion Williams, Brandon Brown and Damien Shanklin all had at least 20 power four offers and chose LSU. Davis is quite the developer of talent, and for a defensive line room that at the moment is thinner than they would like, it is clear that there is an emphasis on recruiting more talent through the portal and high school ranks. And these three will bring some much needed competition to the room.
