Power rankings for Week 3 of the SEC
By John Makuch
14. Florida Gators
A team with a history and tradition like Florida should never be anywhere near this low in the total SEC rankings, but here we are. The Florida Gators have battled quarterback issues, defensive shortcomings, and just about everything you can think of. The only saving grace for a Gator fan right now would be, "at least we're not Florida State" which just show what type of year it has been for the state of Florida and its football programs.
A loss to Texas A&M at home is another nail into a tough season to deal with for the Gators, and we have a battle for the bottom between them and Mississippi State next week. Maybe things will improve with some easier games coming up, but it has not looked great in this 1-2 start.
13. Auburn Tigers
Auburn has been an interesting team to follow this season, especially with their quarterback situation. Out goes Peyton Thorne, in goes Hank Brown, and he did not have a bad day at all with 235 yards and four touchdowns.
But the Tigers did what they were supposed to do against New Mexico, but the loss to Cal still looks rough at the moment. They have a couple of big games against Arkansas and Oklahoma coming up in SEC play, so the chance to prove themselves is still right there. It is still too early to tell how competitive Auburn will be in this conference, but if Brown emerges as the guy, this could be a sneaky squad.
