Power rankings for Week 3 of the SEC
By John Makuch
6. Missouri Tigers
When you take a look at the AP Top 25, six of those teams found themselves in the top ten, and Missouri was able to defend their ranking against Boston College. Brady Cook has looked solid so far this season, and the offense is doing what it needs to do. But for a top-ten team, you do not expect to play such a close game against Boston College.
But Missouri has always been a team that grinds out close games, and Boston College seems to be a bit better than that 24 next to their name. The Tigers get a benefit when it comes to their ease of schedule, and the College Football Playoff needs to prepare for them to be involved.
5. Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss football is a top-five team primed for a huge season, and they have done nothing besides blow out their opponents so far this season. They are one of the teams that have not played a conference opponent just yet, but they have handled their nonconference schedule with ease so far. Offensively, they need to finish more drives, but Jaxson Dart looks outstanding, and they have an elite runner in Henry Parrish Jr.
They sit as the fifth-ranked team in the nation, which makes them the fourth-highest-ranked SEC team funny enough. This is a deep conference, and while the Playoff is likely, they still need to show an ability to take down their fellow SEC teams.
Lane Kiffin has a great thing going with this squad and this offense, but to rank them any higher they will have to prove so against their SEC opponents.
