Number 9: Vanderbilt Commodores

The Vanderbilt Commodores have struggled to begin the season as they have a record of 5-3.

The Commodores fell three spots in this weeks rankings after losses to Dayton and Gonzaga. Despite losing those games, Vanderbilt still won three games last week with a win over Eastern Kentucky and a series win over Gonzaga.

The series with Gonzaga was close in games two and three, but started with a blowout in game one by the Commodores where they won 12-2. Game two ended with a walk-off victory as Vanderbilt was down 3-0 before coming back to win 4-3. Game three was very close, but a go-ahead grand slam from Gonzaga got them the lead in the eighth.

Jack Bulger has been a solid hitter for the Commodores to start the season. Through eight games, Bulger has a batting average of .367 with two home runs and seven runs batted in. He also has a 1.029 OPS and a double.

This week the Commodores take on Indiana State and Evansville at home. Over the weekend, Vanderbilt will head to Houston, Texas to compete in the 2024 Astros Foundation College Classic where they will face off against Louisiana, Houston, and Texas.
