SEC Media Days went as quick as it came. Three jam-packed days of player and coach interviews saw several great moments; some of them happening before the event even kicked off.

Here are the top moments from SEC Media Days

Nick Saban’s media blunder

As he was going to enter on day one of the event, the former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach turned ESPN and SEC Network media professional forgot his credentials in his hotel room. Security apparently stuck to their guns and did not let the seven time national championship head coach through the doors without them. Maybe Saban should have brought a ring or two with him as collateral instead.

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey even barbed Saban with his opening remarks citing some people that deserved a “media hustle award,” giving his last one to Saban. “The third would go to Nick Saban who apparently was denied access because he didn’t have his credential this morning and had to go back to his room,” Sankey said. “We teach those lessons quickly.”

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey comments on the status of the SEC

Commissioner Sankey was asked several times about potential SEC expansion as it has become a trend across college football. While Sankey did not say no, something he did say should help to further solidify confidence amongst all involved with the SEC.

“We are the one conference at this level where the name still means something,” Sankey said. And that is very true. With conferences like the Big Ten and ACC expanding across the country, the SEC has held true to its southeastern footprint. Although they expanded to add Texas and Oklahoma, both teams are arguably by your definition in the southeast, or very close to it.

2025 SEC Media Days location announced

Atlanta, Georgia was announced as the location for SEC Media Days in 2025. Despite wide rumors that the host site would be Orlando, Florida, it will be staying in the heart of the South and in the backyard of the Georgia Bulldogs.

Considering that this is the site of the annual SEC Championship game, this does make a lot of sense as Atlanta is truly seen as one of the epicenters of the SEC.

Nick Saban pick Georgia to win the SEC

Over his own Crimson Tide? That is correct; Saban picked the Bulldogs. Whether he truly believes it or not is another question. To be frank, I think Saban is trying to spread his famous “rat poison” to the Bulldogs and coach Kirby Smart.

Nick Saban gives his thoughts on the Texas Longhorns in the SEC

Saban was not shy about his thoughts on the Texas Longhorns and stated, that although they had an easier time in the Big 12, “they aren’t going to run the SEC.” For a fan base that has been pretty loud since their college football playoff appearance this past season, this was music to the ears of 15 other SEC fan bases who are already sick of a lot of the noise coming out of Austin.

SEC Commissioner jabs Florida State

Sankey wasted no time taking a shot at Florida State when asked about playoff expansion. “Georgia was one of the best four teams and didn’t get in (the playoff), but you didn’t see us jumping up and down and complaining and hanging national championship banners,” Sankey said. This is a clear message that Sankey thought Florida State did not act in a manner he was a fan of, which took center stage especially after the Seminoles received their rings with a 13-0 record and the word “unconquered” appearing on them.
