On3 released their latest player rankings for the 2025 high school recruiting class, and two SEC commits have earned their fifth star.

Interior offensive lineman and Alabama commit Michael Carroll is now the number 12 overall prospect, and Missouri quarterback commit Matt Zollers is now the number 11 overall prospect.  Carroll is ranked as the third best prospect in the state of Pennsylvania, while Zollers is the number one prospect in the state of Pennsylvania, and sixth best quarterback prospect nationally.

What does Matt Zollers’ commitment mean for the Missouri Tigers?

Zollers gives the Tigers their first five star in their 2025 recruiting class and is the latest piece of good news for head coach Eli Drinkwitz who had four four-stars commit earlier in the week as well. The Tigers ranks 15th nationally with Zollers anchoring the class.

How has Michael Carroll’s commitment impacted Alabama’s recruiting class?

Carroll gives new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer his second five star of the 2025 class with cornerback Dijon Lee being the first. DeBoer appears to be picking up right were Saban left off for the Tide as they rank second nationally and first in the SEC.

Carroll has great size at six foot six inches and 310 pounds, but has the athleticism that DeBoer likes. While Saban recruited bigger offensive linemen that could take up space, DeBoer likes his a little leaner and more agile. Carroll fits this bill perfectly and could see early playing time if he indeed arrives in Tuscaloosa.

How many five star commitments does the SEC currently have?

Across the SEC, there are currently nine players fully committed to an SEC school, with another 12 having at least one SEC school projected to be in their top two. That is more than half of the five stars and bodes well for a league trying to remain at the top of the college football world.
