The 2014 Mississippi State Football team was truly a program-defining team. In the inaugural year of the College Football Playoff, the Bulldogs came in ranked #1 in the intial ranking. They held this spot for several weeks, before finishing the season 10-2 following losses to Alabam and Ole Miss in the final three weeks of the season.
As with many of the teams that contend for the CFP, the Bulldogs were a incredibly talented team. With the 10 year anniversary of the 2014 team approaching, it is a great time to see what became of some of the biggest stars on that team.
Dak Prescott-Quarterback
So, this one is pretty obvious. Prescott, who in the two seasons prior mostly just contributed in spot starts and sub packages, was a breakout sensation and the star of the 2014 team.
Prescott was drafted in the fourth round of the 2015 draft by the Dallas Cowboys, and was thrust into the starting role following an injury to Tony Romo. All he did following was win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award and lead a resurgent Dallas to the playoffs.
The playoff wins have not been there, but Dak has been voted to three Pro Bowls, and in 2023 was named second-team All Pro while leading the NFL in passing touchdowns.
