Why EA Sports' college basketball video game could be returning

EA Sports College Football 25 reactions are all over social media with the release of the game throughout the week to fans. The graphics and detail are second to none. After more than a decade since the game was last released, anticipation over the game has been running rampant since the release date was announced was announced this past May.

Although sales and user experience feedback and ratings on the game at a scale large enough to fairly assess will not be available for at least a few months, one cannot help but think about what is next for EA Sports in the college series. Initially, one would think that even just based on initial buzz, it is safe to say that the college football series will return on an annual basis.

Beyond that, EA Sports has also previously made games for college baseball and college basketball as well. Although EA Sports only made the college baseball game in 2006 and 2007, the college basketball game called “EA Sports March Madness” was much more long lasting, similar to the college football series. The basketball series was produced from 1998 to 2009 before production was halted.

Will EA Sports bring back their college basketball game?

With the legalization of name, image and likeness in college athletics, this is a definite possibility. NIL Daily’s Noah Henderson was informed by an EA spokesperson when asking about a new title that the focus is on EA Sports College Football 25 right now.

“We have nothing to announce about future titles at this time. We’re focused on delivering the most authentic football experience possible,” the spokesperson said.

EA Sports did not say no: Although they did not say yes, they did not say no either. I’m one that is hoping they release another college basketball game. And if you are too, I would see this statement as a positive. To me this is a company doing exactly what they said- focusing on the game they have at hand.

Too much to lose to not make one: As we have seen the success so far of the game and overwhelming amount of positive user experiences. As long as this type of success of EA Sports College Football 25, it would not make sense for EA Sports to not come out with their next basketball video game. Money, popularity, company growth and many more reasons are all why this makes too much sense.
