After 12 weeks of college football, one would think there would not be a lot of changes in the Coach’s Poll. That could not be further from the truth, however.
Alabama remains in the top 4 and Florida remains in the top 10 of the Coach’s Poll. While that continues to give the SEC a strong presence in the top of the rankings, a disturbing trend has continued. Fewer and fewer SEC teams have appeared in the rankings in 2015 and the SEC is now down to four.
Mississippi checks in at #19 after dismantling formerly ranked LSU 38-17. The score was actually made it look closer than it was, something Bret Bielema can certainly appreciate.
Mississippi rounds out the SEC teams appearing in the Coach’s Poll at #22 after escaping Fayetteville 51-50. Mississippi State continues to beat the teams they should. We must give credit where it is due, however, as Arkansas was the favorite in this game after their performances the last two weeks.
LSU (technically #26 now) dropped completely out of the rankings after losing 3 straight. That is crazy to think about. Just 3 weeks ago they were playing in the “2015 Game of the Century” in what was supposed to determine the winner of the SEC West. Now rumors are flying that Les Miles may be out after the season.
Texas A&M received the 4th most votes of any team outside the rankings after blanking Vanderbilt. With A&M and LSU playing in week 13, the winner should add to the SEC teams in the Coach’s Poll. That may not matter, though, as the loser of Egg Bowl could fall from the rankings.
