Just like in the Coach’s Poll, only 4 teams remain in the AP Top 25 Poll.
Week 12 was filled with upset victories that have greatly impacted the standings in the College Football world. The AP Top 25 reflects that, as many teams have shifted drastically in the rankings.
#15 LSU came out flat and fell hard against #22 Ole Miss, which vaulted the Rebels and saw the Tigers drop completely from the rankings. #9 Michigan State reintroduced itself as a College Football Playoff contender in their upset victory over #3 Ohio State. The Buckeyes, meanwhile, fell hard and saw some of their top players unofficially declare for the NFL draft. #6 Oklahoma State fell to #10 Baylor, finally ending any discussions that there might be two Big 12 teams in the College Football Playoff. Unranked UCLA defeated #13 Utah, which greatly cleared up the PAC 12 picture. And the last remaining undefeated group of 5 team (#19 Houston) fell to a lackluster UConn team. To top it all off, Memphis fell to unranked Temple.
If upsets aren’t really your thing, there were still plenty of close matchups that went to the wire from the Top 25.
#4 Notre Dame barely escaped Fenway with a 3 point victory over Boston College. #7 Oklahoma had to stop a 2-point conversion attempt to escape an upset atthe hands of #18 TCU (30-29 final score). #8 Florida needed overtime to dispose of Florida Atlantic, as did #17 North Carolina with Virginia Tech. Finally, #25 Wisconsin played #20 Northwestern to the wire (in typical Northwestern fashion), but fell short 13-7.
