SEC Football: Tim Tebow’s Freak of the Year

facebooktwitterreddit

Tim Tebow, one of the all-time freaks of the SEC, picks a weekly Freak of the Week on SEC Nation.  He announced his Freak of the Year ahead of the SEC Championship Game.

There could not be a more fitting award for Tim Tebow to be in charge of handling than his weekly Freak of the Week nod that he gives during SEC Nation broadcasts.  He has done a fine job of picking winners this year, picking some absolute monsters from around the SEC.  The nominees for Freak of the Year were limited to 2015 winners of the Freak of the Week

Previous winners of the honor were Alabama running back Derrick Henry, Texas A&m defensive end Myles Garrett, LSU running back Leonard Fournette, Ole Miss defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche, Auburn defensive end Carl Lawson, Arkansas offensive tackle Dan Skipper, Mississippi State defensive back Brandon Bryant, Florida defensive tackle Jonathan Bullard, Missouri defensive end Charles Harris, Georgia running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, Kentucky running back “Boom” Williams, South Carolina wide receiver Pharoh Cooper, and Tennessee cornerback Cameron Sutton.

Who from that group of freaks was given the honor of being Tebow’s Freak of the Year?

Derrick Henry.

Tebow had plenty of reasons as to why as well according to Saturday Down South.

“Derrick Henry is the Freak of the Year.  But you ask me why.  Because he has 17 straight games with a touchdown.  He has 1,797 rushing yards, 22 touchdowns this year.  But why could he do it?  Because he can squat 550 pounds, and he can bench press 450 pounds.  He’s also pretty explosive.  His broad jump is a 10-4.  That’s like seven Finebaums.  He also runs a 4.45 40.  This dude is unbelievable.  But also, to be honest, the reason he won Freak of the Year is because last week he had the ability, in a rivalry game, to carry it 46 times.  That is ridiculous.”

It has got to be a huge acknowledgement to Henry, who earlier this week said he felt like he was not close to Tim Tebow’s level.
