Spikes spent a year with the Buffalo Bills before he was released by them recently and he was then picked up by the Patriots in May.
Over the weekend, Spikes was involved in a car accident and apparently, abandoned his car. Now, the Massachusetts State Police Department is involved which cannot be a good sign for Spikes.
According to the report, police went out to a scene of an accident at 3:30 a.m. Sunday. The police thought they were investigating a hit of a deer on the highway, but what they found out later is that they were investigating a hit and run.
The car that was allegedly owned by Spikes had hit another vehicle. When the police arrived, the driver was gone and the three victims in the other car were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
When the news hit the Patriots front office Spikes was cut immediately. As of now, no reason was given or charges filed, but you have to think it was because of this latest incident.
This is not the first time Spikes has been involved in a controversy.
When former Florida teammate Aaron Hernandez was convicted of murder charges back in April, Spikes expressed his confusion of the justice system on Twitter.
I’m sure that didn’t sit well with the Bills front office and that may be the main reason he was cut.
With the Patriots having to deal with the fall-out from Deflatgate and the Hernandez trial, this is one headache they don’t need and apparently, won’t put up with on this team.
