From the Maxwell Football Club page describing the award:
"“The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. “Tiny” Maxwell, has been given to America’s College Player of the Year since 1937. Maxwell’s contributions to the game of football were extensive, including time as a player, a sportswriter and an official.”"
This year’s list is highlighted by 2014 Maxwell Award finalist Dak Prescott.
The senior quarterback from Mississippi State finished in the top three for the award last season after leading the Bulldogs to a 10-3 record and amassing 4435 yards and was responsible for 41 touchdowns. Oregon QB Marcus Mariota took the 2014 Maxwell honor.
