Favorites to Play in the SEC Championship
John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports
When media, coaches, and players assembled in Birmingham, Alabama for the 2015 SEC Media Days, they predicted the participants in the SEC Championship game as well as divisional winners. The media picked Alabama to win the West but has Auburn as the favorite to win the whole SEC. Do not ask, I cannot explain it either.
In this article we are going to look at the favorites to win their divisions. We will take a look at what needs to go right for them to win big, while also discussing what could happen to derail their season of high hopes. In order to do this as fairly as possible, only the top team in each division is considered the favorite.
Representing the West we have the aforementioned Alabama (92 first place votes). From the East we have another traditional power in Georgia (166). Based on the number of votes, it is obvious the media feels most confident in their prediction that Georgia will be playing in the SEC Championship game.
The number of first place will also be the order in which we discuss these teams.
