SEC Heisman Hopefuls (Post Week 5)

Will Grier
Can somebody please tell me why Coach McElwain refuses to acknowledge the superb play of Will Grier? Heading into the Ole Miss game he was still refusing to solidify Grier as the starter . . . despite Treon Harris getting suspended for reportedly failing a drug test. That is also after Grier lead the comeback versus Tennessee. When asked about Grier’s play after the Ole Miss game, Coach McElwain said “He did a good job. He played the position. Let’s give credit to the guys around him, now.” I’d say 24-for-29, 4 TD and 0 INT is slightly better than playing the position. But hey, that might just be me.
That type of performance is worthy of getting added to our SEC Heisman contenders list, though. One thing is certain: that is the type of quarterback play that could take UF from a pretender to a contender. A long trip on the road against a sack happy Missouri defense will really test whether or not Coach McElwain has revitalized this Florida offense. Will Grier may be the Heisman piece that helps Florida return to national prominence, but then again, we had Greyson Lambert in our number 4 spot last week.
