SEC Viewer’s Guide: Week 6
It’s a down week in the SEC with only six intra-conference games on the schedule.
With four teams on byes this week, just 10 SEC teams will be taking the field in Week 6. While the schedule may be relatively light, the match-ups could still provide some excitement midway into the season.

Of those 10 teams, eight of them will be doing battle in-house: LSU-South Carolina, Georgia-Tennessee, Arkansas-Alabama and Florida-Missouri.
Here’s when, who, and where to watch the SEC games this Saturday.

New Mexico State at No. 14 Ole Miss, SEC Network

New Mexico State has been irrelevant on the gridiron for nearly six decades. Don’t expect that to change too much this Saturday when the Aggies face a hungry Ole Miss team.
Simply put, the Rebels were housed in the Swamp last week against Florida; they’ll look to take their frustrations out in front of a home crowd this Saturday.
Ole Miss — led by quarterback Chad Kelly (26-of-40 for 259 yards, one touchdown and an interception last week) — should rebound nicely against arguably one of the worst teams in college football.

No. 7 LSU vs. South Carolina, ESPN
The tragic flooding in South Carolina may have warranted this game being to be moved to Baton Rouge this weekend, but the outcome should still be the same. Potentially the only difference will be LSU playing South Carolina’s fight song and alma mater.
LSU running back Leonard Fournette has, and will continue to be, a one-man show for the Tigers.
Fournette leads the nation in rushing yards (864) and touchdowns (11) and has absolutely punished defenses along the way. Facing an abysmal Gamecocks defense, those numbers could jump significantly on Saturday.
Sorry Carolina fans, but as the saying goes: when it rains, it pours.
No. 19 Georgia at Tennessee, CBS
What was once believed to be the marquee match-up that would decide the East has lost some of its luster.
The Volunteers have lost back-to-back games against conference foes Florida and Arkansas after squandering sizable fourth quarter leads. In addition, Tennessee dismissed wide receiver Pig Howard for violating team rules.
Needless to say, the Vols are in need of a boost in confidence. And with Georgia coming to town this week, that may be hard to come by.
The Bulldogs, too, seek to avenge a disappointing loss — falling 38-10 to a tough Alabama team between the hedges.
A win could turn the Vols’ season around. But defeating a solid Georgia team fresh off of a loss will be no easy task.
4 PM ET

Let’s be honest — Mississippi State will bounce back after its loss to Texas A&M last week in College Station.
Quarterback Dak Prescott was the silver lining, per se, in last week’s meeting with the Aggies. He provided some excitement by throwing for 210 yards and adding 96 yards on the ground…but did fail in regards to scoring points.
Prescott certainly needs more help from the rest of his offense if the Bulldogs are to compete in the SEC. But they’ll have another week to get the offensive issues sorted out with a lowly Troy team looming this Saturday.
Mississippi State opens as a 30-point favorite; it should have no problem covering that line against the Trojans.
7 PM ET
Arkansas at No. 8 Alabama, ESPN
Just when you think the Saban Dynasty is over at Alabama, the Crimson Tide turn it around and seemingly rectify all of their deficiencies faster than you can say “Roll Tide”.
‘Bama proved that it is still a prime contender in the SEC West (and perhaps for a trip to the College Football Playoff) with last week’s impressive win over then-No. 8 Georgia in Athens.
Meanwhile, Arkansas managed to halt its three-game skid with a big victory over Tennessee on Rocky Top.
The Razorbacks played better last week, but the Tide — in Tuscaloosa, no less — will be too much for Bret Bielema’s Hogs to overcome.
7:30 PM ET
No. 11 Florida at Missouri, SEC Network
To say these two programs have been a surprise recently would be an understatement.
Who would’ve thought Florida would be undefeated after facing the likes of Tennessee and Ole Miss? And Missouri is 4-1 despite receiving very few votes to win the East in the preseason.
The Tigers will be without senior quarterback Maty Mauk yet again (who remains suspended from the team indefinitely), but freshman Drew Lock has embraced the starting role.
Overall, Lock has completed 36-0f-53 passes for 361 yards so far this season and was particularly exceptional against South Carolina last week — completing 75 percent of his throws for 136 yards and two scores. But he’ll face a much tougher defense in the Florida Gators this Saturday night.
The winner of this game figures to be the frontrunner for the division title and the opportunity to play in Atlanta for the SEC championship game.
