Texas A&M Football: Music City Bowl Predictions
After seeing their Aggies’ win total decline in each of Sumlin’s years as coach, Texas A&M football fans finally say the win total at least match that of the year prior. That stat doesn’t tell an accurate story of the 2015 Texas A&M football season, however.
Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray both announced that they were transferring out of College Station after the 2015 regular season ended. Speculation has begun to abound in recent weeks as to why and there is no solid information out there as of yet.
That leaves the Texas A&M football program with junior college transfer Jake Hubenak as the only realistic option for their bowl game against Louisville (7-5).
It is only fitting that the Aggies entered bowl season with some extra controversy and head-scratching decisions.
2015 saw them controversially (at least from LSU’s perspective) hire John Chavis to fix the defense and enter the season as serious dark horse contenders. At least initially, it appeared those expectations were realistic.

Texas A&M football fans were treated to a 5-0 start, a hot offense, seemingly quality wins (Arizona State, Mississippi State, Arkansas) and a top 10 matchup with Alabama. Then the wheels fell off.

The Aggies were destroyed by Alabama and lost 3 more games to close the regular season, failing to record a single quality win down the stretch. As a result, Texas A&M went from being a top 10 team to playing a mid-tier bowl against 7-5 Louisville.
Kevin Sumlin needs this game or his position as Texas A&M football coach will be under close inspection to kickoff 2016.
How Texas A&M can win:
First and foremost, the Aggies must slow down Bobby Petrino’s offensive attack. The Cardinals’ 246.6 passing yards per game (44th) isn’t that impressive, but the Aggies are not known for their stellar defense. Petrino will have had a month to prepare and find potential points to exploit. If the Aggies can minimize the Cardinals passing attack, they’ll find a way to score enough points to win.
How Texas A&M can lose:
This one is simple. If the Aggies can’t find a way to slow the Cardinals passing attack, they’ll get blown out. Sumlin’s title as Texas A&M football coach will be in serious how water entering 2016.
Predictions:
John: John Chavis is a legend for a reason. Being able to watch Petrino’s gameplan unfold against the defense Chavis has had a month to prepare will be entertaining football. I’ll give the nod to the Aggies and their superior athletes. Texas A&M wins in a game that never sees more than a touchdown lead. Aggies 31-28.
Andrew:
It’ll be interesting to see how the Aggies respond after losing both quarterbacks Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray to transfer. In addition, the Cardinals have arguably one of the best defensive units in the country, despite only boasting a 7-5 record. Louisville takes advantage of A&M’s offensive struggles and hands out another “Big L” to close the 2015 season — 24-20
Ben:Kevin Sumlin’s seat will be real real reeeaaaaaaalll hot after this lopsided loss.
Neal: Texas A&M pulls out the victory here.
