Florida Football: Citrus Bowl Predictions

Florida football fans were able to hold out hope for a College Football Playoff berth for weeks without Will Grier.  After facing stiff competition to close the season, however, many Gator fans are feeling hopeless about their offense.

2015 Florida Football Timeline

Week 3:  Florida football is back.  The Gators demolished #3 Ole Miss 38-10.  It was never even close.  This team could contend for a national championship.

Weeks 5-6:  After a solid beating of Missouri a showdown awaits with LSU.  Except Will Grier is now suspended for a calendar year.  There’s hope, as Treon Harris was evidently tough to unseat as the starter.  Although Florida loses, Harris puts on a solid performance against LSU in Death Valley and Gators fans are hopeful about their prospects of making the college football playoff.

Week 8:  Florida football fans are jacked after their Gators destroy the rival Georgia Bulldogs 27-3 after a bye week.  Will Grier is looking replaceable.

Weeks 9-13:  Gator fans are treated to part two of Will Muschamp’s version of Florida football.  The Gator D stands strong but an inept offense prevents them from being competitive against top competition.

Postseason:  Florida is the only SEC team not favored to win their bowl.  Most await a beating at the hands of Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines.  Some hold out hope that the defense will be able to help them spring the upset.

How Florida can win:  A miracle.  I have no idea how Treon Harris completed over 50% of his passes, tossed two touchdowns and didn’t turn the ball over against LSU.  He looked like a competent, if admittedly slightly subpar, quarterback that would not be a complete liability.  He was an embarrassment to the position to close the season, though, and the Gators will need another miracle for this game to be competitive.

How Florida can lose:  This isn’t difficult at all.  If Treon Harris continues his recent string of poor performances, the Gators will be out of the game by the start of the 4th quarter.  The defense may keep the game competitive for awhile like they did against Alabama in the SEC Championship.  Otherwise I’d say they could be out of the game by the end of the first quarter.

Predictions

John:  Treon Harris continues to embarass himself and leave Florida football fans wondering why there was ever an an alleged quarterback battle between Harris and Grier.  The defense hangs tough for 3 quarters, making this a tight game.  Michigan scores multiple times in the 4th to break it open a bit, though.  I’ll take the Wolverines 31-14.

Ben:  UF’s defense will come out hot, but Treon Harris’s inability to keep the offense on the field to give their defense a breather will be their ultimate demise.  Michigan wins 31-6.

Neal:  Michigan
