After sending two less teams bowling, SEC football has reclaimed their throne as the kings of college football.

Colin Cowherd talks for a living.  I get that.  But the man has made it his business to try to insult SEC football at every opportunity.

He called the SEC an overrated mess and suggested the SEC football champion Alabama be left out of the college football playoff.  That shouldn’t surprise anyone, he has been bashing SEC football since the beginning of the season.

You would think he may lay off SEC football after the conference won 9 games this bowl season.  Not a chance.  He is sticking to his guns more than ever.

Cowherd even went so far as to call Alabama “boring” and “bad for college football.”  He isn’t the only one, but he is one that most of us should be familiar with.

So now I think I’ll go on a rant.  I realize I don’t have a nationwide following and Fox Sports providing me with a platform and radio show.  But I do have an SEC platform and am an avid SEC fan myself.  Thankfully FanSided and Southbound and Down don’t ask me to check that fandom at the door.  So shoutout to my bosses.

How hard must it be to not be an SEC fan?  I know that countless SEC fans despise what Nick Saban has built at Alabama.  Before he arrived Alabama fans were already arrogant.  4 national championships and being able to claim two of the greatest college football coaches later, Alabama fans have become almost intolerable to many SEC football fans.

But many fans feel that all success by SEC football is shared and makes them all look better.  Agree or disagree, all 7 schools in the SEC West could not afford to pay their coaches at least $4 million without the added revenue from the SEC network.  Do you think that network exists without the conference powers — which of course includes Alabama?

I’m not even an Alabama fan.

So let’s get back to the SEC.

Cowherd and all the others, I just want you to realize something.  This was a down year for SEC football.  Auburn, Texas A&M, LSU, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia are all more than just aiming for even better seasons next year.  They’re all expected to be more successful.  Obviously that won’t be true for all of them, but it will for some.

I hope you realize that I included the SEC East champion in that category.  I absolutely feel like they could accomplish the same, plus some, in 2016.  If even half of those teams do indeed improve, the conference will be even better.

I released the top half of my power rankings earlier this week, with Alabama and Ole Miss topping that list.  Both programs are built for longevity and should experience similar success next season.

SEC football sent 12 teams bowling in 2014.  10 teams managed to set an NCAA record of 9 bowl wins in 2015.

You can call SEC football boring and bad for college football as a whole.  Just don’t call SEC football overrated.  The conference has 8 of the last 10 National Championships making you look plain silly when you spew nonsense like that.
