SEC football coaches are constantly being evaluated, and we do our part to add to that. This is the 12th  in our series of head football coach evaluations for the conference.  Nick Saban’s evaluation is the fifth of the SEC West evaluations.

More from Alabama Crimson Tide

Nick Saban has been around the the SEC for well over a decade now, even if you exclude his brief stint in the NFL.  He is one of the rare coaches to win a National Championship at two different schools (LSU, Alabama) and, according to rolltide.com, one of only four (himself, Frank Leahy, Paul “Bear” Bryant, and John McKay) coaches to win 4 National Championships in the modern era

Before joining the Crimson Tide, Saban spent 13 seasons as head coach at (in order) Toledo (1 year), Michigan State (5), LSU (5), Miami Dolphins (2…kind of) according to sports-reference.com.  He has won everywhere in college, going 9-2 at Toledo, 34-24 at Michigan State, 48-16 at LSU and 91-17 at Alabama.  That fact is even more impressive when you consider that most of his jobs have been “turnaround” gigs.

So, what else is there to say about Saban?
